Beehive Mask

Hey y'all! I haven't submitted anything in forever, so I thought I would start actually doing things (other than faving 80000 pieces that is XD ).

This is a mask that I made and painted in the summer of 2008 in Maine. It's made of strips of chickencloth (not sure if that's the official fabric name - it's a thick mesh cloth) dipped into a mixture of water, glue and cornstarch and applied to my face. I had some help from kids I was working with, because the application process takes two (or more) people.

It takes about half an hour to dry on the face, after which it can be removed and airdried, which takes a few hours. It is possible to bake it instead if you've had mask training and excellent ventilation. I then painted it in the honeycomb pattern you see above!

The best part is, because I made the mask directly on my face, it fits me perfectly!
